Japanese Seto Eggshell Porcelain Cup and Saucer

Stunning set of Seto eggshell porcelain produced in the Aichi Prefecture of Japan. Date of manufacturing – late Meiji to Showa periods, first half of the 20th century.
Seto Yaki is often associated with export porcelain due to vast amount of export items produced in that region. However, this set was made for local consumption.

Like any other eggshell porcelain this set has excessively thin body under the glaze. When you hold the cup up to the light and look from below you can see the print from the opposite side.
